Homecoming/ Halloween

I know I am a little late to be talking about homecoming and Halloween because it has already past, but I had a really good time. Homecoming week was GREAT! I enjoyed all the events that they had. I went to basically all of them except for the dance show. The one that I thought was the best was the Gospel Concert. Ty Tribett did a great job. And the football team won their homecoming game so I was very excited about that. Halloween was fun me also. My friend and I bought Halloween costumes, even though we didn't know where we were going. But there was a Halloween party on campus, so we decided to go to that. But the embarassing thing was that we were the only ones in costumes but we still had fun anyways :). And yes I believe that's it....I had a wonderful time.

Blogs

Oh my gosh! I have not done a blog in so long. I feel so bad. I've been so busy and a lot of things have happend since i last posted something. Well school is school...lol. Classes are pretty hectic, and thats one of the reasons why i have not been blogging. I've been seeing a counselor on campus to help with some of my issues I am experiencing my freshman year. I am so happy that i got to talk to her because she has helped me a lot...even though I have only been to a few sessions. She was telling me to get involved on campus, and thats why I have decided to be a Student Ambassador. A student Ambassador helps with touring of the campus for prospective students. They also deal with hosting Open House events and etc. I am very excited about that. There's more stuff but I will tell you in the other blogs.

Midnight Madness!!!

One day last week it was midnight madness. I really liked that event. Everyone went to the gym and the cheerleaders performed. They also had different competitions. My favorite part of the night was when the Women's basketball team had a dance off with the Men's basketball team. The theme was Michael Jackson, so they performed lots of his songs. The Women won without any doubt lol. I really liked their performance. That was a lot of fun.

Umm...

Well school is going well. I've been here for a while now, and I've only been home 3 times. But now I find myself wanting to go home more often on the weekends, because it gets so boring. I wish there was more things to do on the weekends here. Maybe I need to go out and find things to do on campus since i'm not very familiar with Durham. Maybe I will do just that. But everything else has been good. I've been doing better in my classes and having fun with my roommate/new best friend. I'm very happy that we met and are roommates. I wouldn't want anyone else. But yea, I guess that is all that's going on.

Classes!

NCCU has been a wonderful place to be so far. I have learned a lot of things and experienced a lot of things in less than 2 months. My classes are getting tougher...lol. I look back at how I first thought of my classes and I was like "Oh, my classes are easy", but as time progresses it's getting more difficult. I'm still doing well though. My earliest class is at 9:25am and I dread waking up and going to that class every Tuesday and Thursday. I'm glad it's only two days out of the week. I'm also proud of myself because, I have been present in all of my classes. I have not missed one day. When I talk to other students on the campus they tell me they've missed 2 and 3 classes already. I'm just like wow, how is that? I believe that I am going to continue to do well in school and I'm looking forward to the future.

The First Home Football Game!

Last Saturday was NCCU's first home football game against Morehead State (I believe that's the name). I was very excited because I love football games. Not only was it the first home football game, it was also Family Weekend. I wish I would have invited my family, but they did come to the football game. I was so happy to see my sisters and parents. The football game was very interesting. We were losing at first but then caught up. It was hard to pay attention because the heat was distracting me..lol. I could not believe it was that hot and earlier that week it was kind of cool outside. But back to the game.....we were doing well but had to go into overtime because the score was 10 to 10. I left early, but someone told me the final score was 10 to 13. We LOST IN DOUBLE OVERTIME :(. I was very dissappointed because we haven't won a game yet. But we always have next time. But yea I had a good time.

Weekend Adventures

For some reason this weekend was really exciting to me. I didn't do much on Friday but I had a lot of fun hanging out with people in my Residence Hall. Saturday was probably the best day for me this weekend. I woke up early Saturday Morning for "Make A Difference Day". That was about helping clean up the community. Suprisingly I had a lot of fun and met new people. It was something new that I hadn't yet experienced. Later on that day some friends and I decided that we were gonna go to the movies/mall. But in order to get there we had to ride the bus. I was kind of skeptical at first because I had never been on a City Bus. It went well though. We had a few laughs about the people that were on the bus (maybe that was mean) but yea. I just had a good weekend overall; I wish they all could be like that. But I am also looking forward to this weekend coming up because we have our first home football game. I am sooo excited. I am ready to cheer on my Eagles. Hopefully they win :). Well I guess this is it.... TTYL

Going Back Home

Hey......I'm back. I finally went home this weekend for Labor Day. It was really nice seeing all of my family and friends. I was mainly excited to see my little sister Taliah. It felt so good being in a home and taking a shower without shower shoes...lol! The food was great too.

Once I got settled at home I got a little bored and was ready to come back to school. My roommate left for the weekend too but got back before me. So I was really ready to go back. I was kind of shocked at the fact that I wanted to go back to school so quickly. My family was not too happy about that either...lol. They wanted me to stay longer but I refused and got back to school early Monday afternoon. Because I went back to school so early I missed the Labor Day dinner my grandmother was cooking but that's okay because at least I got to come back to my New "home".

Getting Used to Things

I've been here for a good three weeks now, and i've finally got used to things. Classes are pretty good, but the first week was hectic because everybody had to find out whether or not they were in the right classes and schedules kept changing. My classes are not that hard because most of it is review from high school so that's good.

The food took a good week to get used to (not that it was bad). I really like the take out place on the other side of the cafe..because when the cafe closes that will be open til Eleven. The Smart Market is my favorite!!! It has access to all the candy that i want LOL. But I think I need to slow down on using my flex dollars. But yeah, I like NCCU and its going great.

The First Few Days

Hello everyone!!! My name is Ashley Nichelle Adams. I am from Raleigh, North Carolina and I graduated from the lovely Cary High School. I like to laugh, have fun, go shopping, eat, and just hang out with my friends.

Making a decision on which college I wanted to go to was very difficult. I was either going to go to ECU or NCCU. I chose NCCU because it was close to home and I wanted to be close to my family if I needed anything, and I also heard that they had a pretty good Nursing Program. I feel that I made a really good decision because I really like NCCU.

My first night here was very weird. I moved in on Tuesday, a day before everyone else moved in (because i attented my orientation late), so I was without a roomate my first night. I felt so lonely and it made it worse not having someone in the room with me because I was someplace different by myself. But all went well and I made it thru to the next morning. LOL

The next morning I went to Orientation and that was good...you get the things you need to get done like getting your Eagle Card pic taken and placement tests, and etc. Word of advice.... I suggest that you do it ahead of time and don't wait till the last minute, like me. But anyways when I got back to my room from orientation my roommate was there...YAY!!! I was very excited. She seemed very nice and talkative so that was good because I'm not that talkative. As of right now I am very happy that she is my roommate.

Once everyone got settled, and moved into the dorms, we had our W.O.W. (week of welcome). That gave you a lot to do that week and it was fun. My favorite had to be the pinning ceremony. The Pinning Ceremony was my favorite because I felt that was when I officially became an Eagle. I was very proud at that moment when I got my Eagle Pin. I am excited about my future Eagle Experience and will be telling you all more about it. As of right now my session is closing.
